In the open ocean there are a lot of cool things going on at once. The first things we are going to talk about are predator and prey. What happens in predator and prey is when Jeffery the fish eats Eddie the coral reef. Then bob the squid eats Jeffery the fish. Then mike the shark eats bob the squid. You probably think the story its over now, but its not. Tommy the great white shark comes in and eats then all because he is the biggest predator in the ocean. Now you know what predator and prey is. In the next paragraph you will be learning about parasitism in the open ocean.
A lot of you probably don’t know what parasitism means, but luckily we are here to tell you what it means. How parasitism works is that little bobby the protest gets inside Jeffery the fish. What happens is that little bobby slowly eats away Jeffery’s inside then after a couple of years, old Jeffery dies. I know its complicated but I hope the paragraph helped you understand it. Now were going to be talking about commensalisms.
In the open ocean there are a lot of commensalisms going on. Today Frank and I are going to only give you one example. I hope it helps you understand it. What happens is when frank the hagfish raps around Fred the fish. You would think that it would hurt Fred, but it doesn’t. All frank wanted was to catch a ride with Fred and eat the things off of him.It doesn’t hurt Frank neither Fred. The next thing we will be talking about is mutualism.
In the open ocean there is a lot of mutualism going on. This is what happens in mulutism. Mulutism is when there is relationships between two organisms were both benefit from it. For example, like when ruddy the suckerfish was getting a little hungry. He decided to suck on nick the whale while ha was getting something to eat. Ruddy get the food he want and nick get the cleaning he’s needed. As you can see they both get a good benefit out of it!
As you can see there are lots of things going on in the open ocean. Such as predator/prey, parasitism, commensalisms, and lastly mutualism. I hope by now you can understand what all four of these mean
